MyKad Applications

MyKad has 8 applications and replaces the 2 most important official documents namely the identification card and driving license.

Identification Card

MyKad, with its enhanced security features using chip and biometrics identification technology, replaces the plastic card-based National Identification Cards. Seen as the anchor application of MyKad, the identification card number is expected to serve as the secure access key to other applications and systems.

Driving License

MyKad replaces the paper-based laminated cards and functions as a regular driving license. MyKad facilitates enforcement by providing enforcements officers with up to date driving records. The users for this application are the JPJ enforcement officers and the Traffic Police of PDRM.

Passport Information

MyKad supplements the Malaysians International passport to facilitate efficient exit and re-entry from Malaysian Immigration check points. It is to be noted that MyKad does not replace the passport, since it is required for entry into and exit when traveling overseas.

Medical Information

The technology of MyKad will improve diagnosis and care in emergency and general care situations. Basic and critical medical information is stores in the chip.

MEPS Cash

MyKad facilitates payment of small purchases where accepted. This enhances the efficiency and service quality of public and payment serviced.

Touch ‘n Go

MyKad facilitates your transportation needs. Functions like a Touch ‘n Go card. MyKad can be used for toll payments, parking fees, bus fares, LRT fares and theme park fees.

ATM

MyKad provides easy and convenient banking transactions and functions as an ATM card. The banking activities available include cash withdrawal, balance inquiry, transfer of funds and change of PIN. MyKad allows a maximum of 3 different bank accounts to be stored in the chip. MyKad uses chip technology which possess a high level of security features and protects data stored from fraud and cloning

Public Key Infrastructure (PKI)

The PKI in MyKad enable users to conduct secured e-commerce and transactions using a digital certificate over networks such as the Internet. Authentically and integrity of the data is protected and inaccessible ti anyone but the rightful owner of MyKad.
