The Faculty of Engineering was established in 1956 as one of the first faculties in the University of Malaya and the Department of Civil Engineering is one of the first academic departments to be set up under the Faculty of Engineering.

Civil Engineering is related to the human activities and our nature. Some of the civil engineering works include structures and building construction, bridge engineering, highway, railway construction, airport, hydraulics works etc. It is undeniable that civil engineers play a major role in the development of our nation.
