Bachelor of Horticultural Science is a full time program of study, which emphasizes on the fundamental understanding of scientific, technical and management aspects in the field of horticulture. Students will be equipped with skills in techniques and practices in horticulture, which will enable them to translate knowledge gained into application of modern technologies in horticultural industry for the benefit of mankind. Courses in this program include basic sciences, applied biology, soil science, economics and management, and communication. Aspects of resource management, planning and evaluation of horticultural business are integral components of the program. In addition to on campus training students will be exposed to real situation in horticultural activities while undertaking compulsory practical training in horticulture and related industry.

Minimum Qualifications for STPM Candidates

University General Requirements

A good pass in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) Examination or equivalent and credit in Bahasa Melayu / Bahasa Melayu July paper.

A pass in the STPM Examination with the minimum of:

  • Grade C (GP 2.00) in General Paper, AND
  • Grade C (GP 2.00) in two (2) other subjects, AND

Taken the Malaysian University English Test (MUET) with minimum of Band 1.

Minimum Requirements for KPM Matriculation / UM Science Foundation Candidates

University General Requirements

  • A good pass in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination or its equivalent; AND
  • A credit in the SPM Malays Language paper or its equivalent; AND
  • A pass in the KPM Matriculation / UM Science Foundation with at least 2.00 PNGK; AND
  • Have sat for the Malaysian University English Test (MUET).

Entry Requirements for Candidate with Diploma or equivalent

University General Requirements

  • A good pass in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination or its equivalent; AND
  • A credit in the SPM Malays Language paper or its equivalent; AND
  • A Diploma or other qualification deemed to be of equivalent standing by the Malaysian Government and approved by the UPM Senate;
  • Have sat for the Malaysian University English Test (MUET).

Specific Programme Requirements

A minimum of Grade C (GP 2.00) in two (2) of the following subjects at STPM level;

  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Physics
  • Mathematics / Add Math, AND

At SPM level credits in;

  • Bahasa Melayu / Bahasa Malaysia
  • Mathematics
  • one (1) Science subject; AND
  • two (2) other subjects.
