Bachelor of Accounting program was started in 1985. The curriculum of the program is arranged taking into consideration the criteria in developing graduates suitable with the accounting profession as well as other sectors’ such as business, banking and public services.

Employment Opportunities

The employment opportunities for accounting graduates are:

  • Chartered Accountants, auditors, tax advisors, management consultants, company secretaries, etc.
  • In the trade and industrial sector in the area of financial corporation; banking and financial Institutions which require expertise in finance and accounting.
  • In the public sector and statutory bodies.

Curriculum Component

The Bachelor of Accounting program is offered within eight (8) semesters. The curriculum consists of three (3) components: major, core and elective.

The major components for accounting include all related accounting courses consisting accounting theory courses and practical training exercise for six (6) months. The major component consists of 70 credit hours or 51.47 percent from the total program credit hours.

The core component includes courses in economic, finance and management. Some of the courses in this component are Business Communication, Law, Management, Marketing, Finance, etc. This component consists of 63 credit hours or 46.32 percent from the total program credit hours.

The elective component includes other elective courses consisting 3 credit hours or 2.21 percent from the total program credit hours.
