Monash University Sunway Campus in Bandar Sunway, Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia
Monash University was invited by the Malaysian government to open a campus in 1998. Through a long-standing partnership with the Sunway Group, the first foreign university campus in Malaysia was created at Bandar Sunway in Petaling Jaya. Classes commenced in July 1998.
The current campus was purpose-built in 2007 at a cost of some RM200m. At present there are some 4,500 students and 500 staff, with growth projected to lead to over 6,000 students and 600 staff. About one quarter of the student body is international. The campus continues to develop steadily, and now enjoys excellent facilities for world-class education and research. All academic staff members are expected to engage in scholarly research.
Students at Sunway campus are students of the University, and may participate in the intercampus mobility options available to all Monash students. Student experiences are enhanced through clubs and societies. Award courses from seven Monash faculties are provided through six schools, and range from bachelor to doctoral level.

Monash University Sunway Campus Accommodation
Monash University students are encouraged to take up residence at one of the three accommodations:

- Sun-U Apartments
These are managed by Sunway Residences. Located within walking distance to the campus, residences are situated in the integrated city of Bandar Sunway. There are a variety of restaurants, food courts, banks, shopping malls and hypermarkets nearby. Public transport such as the Free Sunway Shuttle connects all the major amenities to the accommodation.
