The Foundation in Arts is an exclusive pre-university programme at Sunway University. It is an ideal programme to prepare post-secondary school students to go directly into Sunway’s own undergraduate programmes which are validated by Lancaster University, UK.

This foundation programme emphasises the development of well-rounded students in both numerical and communication skills through structured subjects in Mathematics and English throughout every semester.

In order to have a good basic grasp of academic rigour of undergraduate life, a range of electives is available from business subjects to computing, from finance to psychology. Enrichment electives such as Culture and Ideas, Culture and Performance, and Critical Thinking Skills, are avenues for students to explore beyond their academic courses and develop into independent thinkers.

Programme Outline

Development of numerical and communication skills is ensured through structured courses in Mathematics and English language offered every semester. The choice of business electives ranging from Accounting, Economics, Computer Science and introductory courses in Finance and Management and Psychology will help students to be prepared for the academic rigour of undergraduate studies in Business and other disciplines. The enrichment electives like Culture and Ideas, Culture and Performance and Critical Thinking Skills provide a holistic approach to learning. It will broaden student’s general knowledge, develop their communication skills and reflect their understanding of individuals and groups. Awareness will be created for better understanding of the world around them and events that change and influence the world. The subject contents are current and reflect the rapidly changing society. Focus will also be on student’s ability to adapt to technology in learning. The Programme is conducted over 3 semesters of 14-week duration.

Student support system

Students will be nurtured to attain personal success; personal and academic guidance will be provided by a team of dedicated and experienced lecturers. Parents will receive a progress report each semester.
