Tune Hotels or TuneHotels.com are the “no-frills” hotels operated by Tune Hotels.Com Sdn. Bhd. It’s co-founder is Tony Fernandes, the founder of the low cost airline in Malaysia, AirAsia. Tune Hotels.com’s online booking gives consumer the best room rates. The price may vary depending on time of booking, availability and demand.

The flagship hotel and the first Tune Hotel in operation was opened in April 2007 to showcase the elements of the “no frills” concept. Situated in the heart of Kuala Lumpur at Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman, Tune Hotels “No Frills” concept will be a direct competitor to the three star hotels, with these in mind:

• “No-frills” concept, all that is necessary and essential to ensure a good night’s sleep minus the “frills”
• Safe, clean and comfortable rooms and environment
• Great central locations
• Clean en-suite bathroom with power shower
• Security cameras
• Excellent five star quality bed i.e Tune Bed by King Koil with high quality duvets
• All rooms come equipped with a fan
• Limited housekeeping services
• Friendly and helpful Tune Hotels.Com employees and staff

In order to keep the price low, it offers none of these as part of the room charges:

• Television, radio, or coffee table
• Refrigerator or mini-bar
• Towels, soaps or shampoos
• Private telephone line
• Wardrobes
• A safe
• Gym and breakfast

However, it provides the core amenities and facilities:

• Ceiling fan in all rooms
• Air-conditioner with extra charges
• Writing desk in rooms coming soon
• 24 hour lobby convenience store
• Lobby Internet kiosk with hotel wide wifi coming soon
• Lockers for rent for luggage storage
• Amenities kits for sale (includes towel, soap, and shampoo)

Location of hotels

Tony Fernandes has confirmed locations for the new hotels. Six Tune Hotels will be operated by the end of 2008 or as early as mid 2008.

• In Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman, Kuala Lumpur, with 173 rooms, now open for occupancy.
• Near the Low Cost Carrier Terminal, Kuala Lumpur International Airport, scheduled for third quarter 2008.
• In Kota Kinabalu, Sabah with 168 rooms, part of the 1Borneo development, scheduled to open in March 2008.
• In Danga Bay, Johor Bahru, with 220 rooms, scheduled to open 3rd Quarter 2008.
• In Kuching, Sarawak, with 150 rooms, scheduled to open in December 2008, or January 2009.
• In Burmah Road, George Town, Penang, with 260 rooms, Scheduled to open in July 2008.
• In Penang, Batu Ferringhi, with 215 rooms, right on the beach, Scheduled to open in 3rd Quarter 2008.

Single Room

These are provided in single room:

• ONE single sized Tune Bed by King Koil (107 x 190 x 24cm)
• Average room size of 9-10sq metres
• Maximum occupancy of 1 Adult and 1 Child (under 12 years old)
• En-suite shower/bathroom
• Fan
• Hot water
• One pillow, pillowcase, bedsheet and duvet (extras not provided)
• Toilet roll
• 1 power socket on the wall (3pin, 220-240V, 13A, 50/60Hz)
• Electronic keylock
• Services
  • Check-Out time is 10.00am
  • Check-In time is 2.00pm onwards
  • Daily Housekeeping services between 10.00am – 2.00pm

Deluxe Room

These are provided in deluxe room:

• ONE “Queen” sized Tune Bed by King Koil (152 x 190 x 24cm)
• Average room size of 11sq metres
• Maximum occupancy of 2 Adults and 1 Child (under 12 years old)
• En-suite shower/bathroom
• Fan
• Hot water
• Two pillows, pillowcases, bedsheet and duvet (extras not provided)
• Toilet roll
• 1 power socket on the wall (3pin, 220-240V, 13A, 50/60Hz)
• Electronic keylock
• Services
  • Check-Out time is 10.00am
  • Check-In time is 2.00pm onwards
  • Daily Housekeeping services between 10.00am – 2.00pm

These are not provided in this “no frills” hotel:

How to get there

From the airport, take the KLIA Express rail service to KL Sentral station, the hub for Kuala Lumpur’s major rail systems. From KL Sentral, take the monorail to Medan Tuanku Station. The hotel is about 100 metres away from the station.
