Bukit Nanas Forest Reserve, Kuala Lumpur
Bukit Nanas Forest Reserve is located at the bottom of the KL Tower. Bukit Nanas Forest Reserve is known to be the oldest permanent forest reserves in Malaysia. It was declared a forest reserve in 1906 and was known as Bucket Weld Forest Reserve back then.
Bukit Nanas Forest Reserve was gazetted as a Wildlife Reserve and Bird Sanctuary in 1934. In 1950, a pristine section of about five hectares was gazetted as a Virgin Jungle Reserve.
Bukit Nanas Forest Reserve covers approximately 11 hectares and can be easily accessed from Jalan Ampang and Jalan Raja Chulan. Bukit Nanas Forest Reserve has exotic variety of flora that thrives within the forest. Visitors can see rare herbs, creepers, ferns, and climbers of an original forest right in the middle of a city.
There are a few nature trails in this forest reserve such as the Merbau Trail which is about 361m long and the Jelutong Trail which is about 300m long.
Bukit Nanas Forest Reserve is open from 9am to 5pm every day. The daily guided tour schedules are 10:30am, 12:30pm, 2:30pm and 4:30pm.
