Endau–Rompin National Park in Johor

One of the world’s oldest lowland rainforest resides in Malaysia. The lowland rainforest spreads over two states with a total area of over 92,000 hectare. The state of Johor declared its share of 48,905 hectare as the State National Park in 1989. Thus, Endau – Rompin National Park has become the world’s oldest lowland rainforest.  

Endau–Rompin National Park has rock formation dating over 248 million years ago. Many unique flora and fauna can be found in this oldest forest.

Wild species that have been sighted here include over 50 types of animals, over 230 species of birds and over 40 species of fish. Visitors can enjoy an array of activities here, such as hiking, jungle trekking, canoeing, rafting, bird watching, catch and releasing fishing and camping.

Danish Corporation for Environment and Development has set up few educational facilities such as arboretum, and ethno botanic park and exhibition gallery at Endau–Rompin National Park.

How to go to Endau Rompin National Park?

It is best to travel to Endau Rompin national park using 4WD vehicle.

If coming from North or Kuala Lumpur
Take PLUS North-South Highway heading south towards Johor. Take the Ayer Hitam exit (Exit 244) and you will pass the toll gate. From Ayer Hitam, take the Kluang-Jemaluang road (Route 50) and along the way look for Endau-Rompin national park sign where you will take a turn-off 7km east of Kahang town. This turn-off will take you on a 56km rough terrain drive going through palm oil plantations and logging roads before arriving at Kampung Peta, the starting point of the park.

If coming from Johor Bahru or Singapore
