Institut Jantung Negara (IJN), also known as the National Heart Institute, is Malaysia’s premier heart centre. Institut Jantung Negara (IJN) was part of the Kuala Lumpur General Hospital until 1st August 1992 when it was corporatised and established as a separate and specialist entity delivering the most advanced standards in cardiovascular and thoracic medicine for adult and pediatric heart patients.

The only centre specializing in treatment and management of heart diseases, Institut Jantung Negara (IJN) offers a comprehensive range of services for cardiovascular medicine with all types of interventions; both diagnostic and therapeutic and cardiac surgeries for open heart, closed heart, thoracic and transplants are performed.

JN has since gained wider recognition as the leading Cardiovascular and Thoracic Health Centre in the region as the rising number of referrals for complicated and demanding cases and visits from foreign cardiologists.

Since its establishment, Institut Jantung Negara (IJN) has kept abreast with the latest medical advances from just handling a simple hole in the heart to heart and lung transplantation. Today, Institut Jantung Negara (IJN) have a highly competent team of cardiologists, pediatric cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, cardiac anesthesiologists, support staff to handle emergencies and even the most complicated cases.

Outpatient treatments
Outpatient Treatments covers referrals as well as new and follow-up cases for cardiology and cardiothoracic patients.

Inpatient Treatments
Inpatient Treatments ministers patients with unstable angina, myocardial infarction, heart failure and interventional cardiology procedures for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, heart surgeries for open heart, closed-heart and thoracic and heart transplantations.

Allied Health Services
Allied Health Services covers cardiac rehabilitation, diet counseling and cardiopulmonary resuscitation programmes.

Executive Screening Programmes
As part of Institut Jantung Negara’s (IJN) heart disease prevention agenda, IJN’s Executive Screening Programmes offer a complete and comprehensive medical examination with emphasis on the heart.
