The Bachelor of Agriculture (Aquaculture) program is formulated to emphasize specifically on the importance of freshwater and marine aquaculture industry as a new sources of economic growth. It takes into account of the current trends in agriculture in light of the emphasis given by the Malaysian Government and the application of biotechnology and information technology to provide value added product. New courses are introduced such as agricultural entrepreneurship, accounting, ICT in aquaculture, agricultural management and marketing, integrated aquaculture and other courses related to the industry. The program is intended to produce students that are knowledgeable, skillful and possess leadership qualities to enable them to participate in the various sector involved in services, research, extensions, production and sustainable management of marine and freshwater aquaculture activities. The curriculum requires students to complete 128 credits to graduate in course related to agriculture in general, specific course in aquaculture, project electives and a 16 weeks of mandatory internship in aquaculture related industry.

Minimum Qualifications for STPM Candidates

University General Requirements

A good pass in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) Examination or equivalent and credit in Bahasa Melayu / Bahasa Melayu July paper.

A pass in the STPM Examination with the minimum of:

  • Grade C (GP 2.00) in General Paper, AND
  • Grade C (GP 2.00) in two (2) other subjects, AND

Taken the Malaysian University English Test (MUET) with minimum of Band 1.

Minimum Requirements for KPM Matriculation / UM Science Foundation Candidates

University General Requirements

  • A good pass in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination or its equivalent; AND
  • A credit in the SPM Malays Language paper or its equivalent; AND
  • A pass in the KPM Matriculation / UM Science Foundation with at least 2.00 PNGK; AND
  • Have sat for the Malaysian University English Test (MUET).

Entry Requirements for Candidate with Diploma or equivalent

University General Requirements

  • A good pass in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination or its equivalent; AND
  • A credit in the SPM Malays Language paper or its equivalent; AND
  • A Diploma or other qualification deemed to be of equivalent standing by the Malaysian Government and approved by the UPM Senate;
  • Have sat for the Malaysian University English Test (MUET).

Specific Programme Requirements

A minimum of Grade C (GP 2.00) in two (2) of the following subjects at STPM level;

  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Physics
  • Mathematics
  • Economics, AND
  • one (1) other subject, AND

At SPM level credits in;

  • Bahasa Melayu / Bahasa Malaysia
  • English
  • Mathematics
  • Biology; AND
  • one (1) other subject.
