Kolej Universiti INSANIAH (KUIN) is fully owned by Kedah state government and is registered with Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia. This university was previously known as Institut Agama Islam Negeri Kedah Darul Aman. This university aims to produce more Islamic workforce professionals who can lead public and expand Islamic knowledge.

In the early stages of establishment, Institut Agama Islam Negeri Kedah Darul Aman started education twinning programs with Al-Azhar University in Egypt. Through this partnership, Degree, Diploma and Certificate was awarded. Jamiah Darul Islam Negeri Kedah has set up three departments which are, Shariah Department, Department of Usuluddin and Arabic Language Faculty.

INSANIAH University College (KUIN)Arabic is the language of instruction, while English is a compulsory subject. Islamic Institute of Kedah Darul Aman use the system in accordance with the terms of the system carried out at the University of Al-Azhar. To safeguard academic quality Jamiah Islam Negeri Kedah Darul Aman, the academic staff selected among competent scholars holds a PhD or equivalent.
