Newcastle University Medicine Malaysia (NUMed) is an international branch campus in Johor, Malaysia which was established by Newcastle University UK. The campus provides undergraduate degrees in Medicine (MB BS) and Biomedical Sciences (BSc), as well as opportunities for postgraduate study.
The programmes of study are identical to Newcastle’s UK-based provision, and lead to the award of the same degrees, conferred by Newcastle University, UK. By choosing to study at NUMed Malaysia, students will obtain a reputable UK qualification, from an internationally recognised university, at a cost significantly less than that of studying for the same degrees in the UK.
The undergraduate Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery (MB BS) degrees were launched in 2009, the Biomedical Sciences BSc Honours was launched in 2013 and our Foundation Certificate in Biological and Biomedical Sciences was launched in 2016.
Many of our programmes offer opportunities for periods of study in the UK.

Newcastle University Medicine Malaysia Campus
Newcastle University’s Malaysian campus is situated in Iskandar Puteri, Johor, in Iskandar Malaysia. Students studying at the state-of-the-art campus benefit from innovative, first class facilities in which to study. NUMed managed accommodation is just a short distance away, accessed via a free, regular shuttle bus.
The campus is part of EduCity in Iskandar Puteri (formerly known as Nusajaya). It is 1km east of the Gelang Patah Interchange on the main Linkedua Expressway.
The Second Crossing Bridge to Singapore is only 8km from the campus, and the city of Johor Bahru is a near neighbour.
One of the largest developments in the Iskandar Development Region, Iskandar Puteri is planned to be an integrated city providing a world-class environment for business, living and leisure.

NUMed Malaysia provides a range of undergraduate medical and biomedical degree programmes, equivalent and of comparable standard to those of Newcastle University’s UK-based provision but contextualised for Malaysia.
Both programmes provide opportunities to study for periods in the UK. All degrees are conferred by Newcastle University, UK.
