Co-Curriculum at Nilai International School

NIS provides opportunities for all students to participate in citizenship, community service, sport and co-curricular activities which are central to providing a holistic education. These experiences provide invaluable opportunities for students to develop social, recreational, creativity and citizenship skills which are essential for a balanced education.

We provide this holistic education through both our academic programme and our co-curricular activities. We believe that extra-curricular activities greatly enrich the school experience of our students. In addition to expanding their interests and providing an opportunity to interact with fellow students and make new friends, students can gain skills that may develop into lifelong leisure pursuits.

Specifically, our goals in this regard are to encourage students to:

  • Focus on character formation and develop leadership skills
  • Strive for excellence by cooperating with team members
  • Show patriotism and loyalty to the school
  • Gain knowledge and acquire skills that will enable them to experience success in future recreational and athletic endeavors

The co-curricular programme consists of a combination of activities organised by our own staff members and programmes which are conducted by external instructors who charge a nominal fee.

Nilai International School Library

The library of Nilai International School is located at Level 1 of the main administrative block. It started its operations in January 2010. Our library aims to cultivate a love for reading and knowledge. It is also a place for research and homework.

  • The library facility provides a special space for performances as there is a mini stage at the corner of the library.
  • A carrel section is also provided for listening to AV items.
  • A computer zone is equipped with PCs for research and reading.

NIS Library uses the Dewey Decimal Classification System (DDC). All the items are classified according to DDC. You find these numbers on the labels of the library items. Our collection consists of books, magazines, audio-visual materials and electronic resources such as CD-ROMs.

Nilai International School Deli Menu

NIS adheres to nutritional standards and each child has the opportunity to have 2 portions from a selection of vegetables and fruits with their meal. Additional second helpings are encouraged. Daily, students in NIS learn to make healthy choices of either an oriental or a western lunch.

To maintain a high level of food cleanliness, all food service staff possesses a clearance in their medical certificate. Special emphasis is placed on proper attire and frequent hand washing.

To ensure menus are “student friendly”, the school authority and teachers on duty often do spot checks, receiving feedbacks on the food served. Our teachers feed the primary children who are slow with their food; frequently coaxing them to eat up the vegetables and fruits. Currently, SHF Catering (M) Sdn Bhd operates our Cafeteria as well as those of some other International Schools.
