Mutiara International Grammar School in Ampang, Selangor, Malaysia

Mutiara International Grammar School initially opened its doors to the first batch of 69 students and 16 teachers on the 8th January 1997. Mr Richard W. Yates, the then Headmaster of the school, in welcoming those assembled in the school hall, assured them that the school would strive to provide quality education which would be second to none in the country. The school was well equipped with Physics, Chemistry and Biology laboratories, a computer lab, an Art room, a small library, a basketball court and a spacious playing field.

Within a year the enrolment grew to more than 200 students, who came from more than 20 countries. Within five years the enrolment raise to almost 500 students from more than 40 countries, and staff strength of more than 40. Mutiara International Grammar School then began to screen those wanting to enrol in this school, looking for quality rather quantity.

The last few years have witnessed the addition of more science laboratories, a computer lab for the Junior School, a mini stadium, an expanded library, a resource room an additional Art studio and many more classrooms.Today, Mutiara International Grammar School can lay claim to being a well-established and fully equipped institution of learning, providing a quality education.

Mutiara International Grammar Junior School Curriculum

MIGS provides a holistic broad – based curriculum. The underlying philosophy is that when our pupils enjoy school, they will be self-motivated, progress faster and achieve their full potential.

The School teaches the British National Curriculum to all our pupils and provides opportunities to develop their full, all-around potential through a rich academic programme enriched by a variety of extra-curricular activities.

A plethora of quality activities that benchmark the requirements of an international school is integrated into every term of the MIGS calendar. Termly field trips, Year Group Assemblies, Inter-International School Competitions (both academic and sport), Competitive Assessment programmes are to name a few. The academic focus is on literacy and numeracy, complemented with well-balanced programmess in Science and Technology, Humainites, Physical Education and languages. Moral Education and Islamic Studies are given due importance throughout the schooling process. Music and the Performing Arts are an integral part of the curriculum.

The Junior School’s academic programme begins with the Early Years followed by the three levels of learning:

i) Reception
ii) Key Phase 1 – Years 1 and 2 (Key Stage 1)
iii) Key Phase 2 – Years 3 and 4 (Key Stage 2)
iv) Key Phase 3 – Years 5 and 6 (Key Stage 2)

Mutiara International Grammar Senior School Curriculum

Mutiara International Grammar Senior School is an English language medium school which follows the British National Curriculum leading to the IGCSE.

The syllabus is therefore structured to ensure success in the University of Cambridge and Edexcel IGCSE external examinations. Further more all pupils are monitored every year using the University of Durham CEM online baseline testing system.

Mutiara International Grammar School Timetable

The school day begins at 7.45am and ends at 2.30pm everyday except on Thursdays, when the school day finishes at 3.45pm. On Friday, the school day finishes at 12.30pm.

Mutiara International Grammar School Fees

Fees structure is available upon request from the Admissions Office. Please note that failure to pay by stipulated date will initially result in a late payment charge and ultimately (in the event of an extended period of non-payment), in the deregistration of your child from Mutiara International Grammar School.

Mutiara International Grammar School Rules and Discipline

Discipline is the backbone of any academic institution and Mutiara International Grammar School believes that students need to understand its necessity not only within the School but in everyday life as well.

Discipline should be effective without being intrusive. To this end, the School rules should be observed and complied with as required.

Minor infractions are dealt with internally. Major infractions will necessitate the involvement of the parents who, together with the school authority, will determine the appropriate course of action to be taken.

Mutiara International Grammar School Uniform

The wearing of correct school uniform is compulsory and an integral part of school life. Details of the School Uniform are available at the Admissions Office.
