Bachelor of Quantity Surveying (Hons), Taylor’s University Lakeside Campus, Subang Jaya, Selangor

The three-and-a-half-year Bachelor of Quantity Surveying (Hons) provides a structured pathway for students to pursue a career as a registered Quantity Surveyor. The programme meets the standards of quality comparable with international benchmarks established by professional bodies and the Board of Quantity Surveyors Malaysia, in consultation with the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).

The programme is accredited by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), the world’s leading professional body for qualifications and standards in property, land and construction. Students who hold RICS accredited degrees are able to work in a network of over 140 countries in the world. Taylor’s is one of two private institutions that have RICS accreditation in Malaysia.

The programme focuses on the teaching of measurement of building elements, the core skill in Quantity Surveying education and practice. Measurement is a multi-disciplinary subject supported by numerical proficiency and construction knowledge. Emphasis is also placed on training to improve the students’ technical, management and personal development skills, which provides them with the opportunity to absorb a wider range of knowledge; the ability to adapt to various conditions; and to solve problems creatively and innovatively. Graduates of this programme will understand how the interrelationship between economics, technology, management and law can be used to add value to the financial and procurement management of construction projects.

The programme adopts a student-centred teaching and learning approach, which places emphasis on creativity, rationality and innovation with the aim to build a talented and creative workforce for the future. Through the School of Architecture, Building and Design’s variety of expertise, multi-disciplinary cultural experiences and collaboration with a consortium of overseas partner universities, the Bachelor of Quantity Surveying (Hons) will offer students an enriching education.

Entry Level & Entry Requirements

  • Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) – CGPA of 2.67 for 3 subjects
  • ‘A’ Levels – 3 principals, minimum grades CDD
  • South Australian Matriculation (SAM) – Overall 65
  • Canadian Pre-University (CPU) – Overall 65%
  • Unified Examination Council (UEC) – Maximum 30 points for 6 subjects (including credits for English and Mathematics)
  • Taylor’s Foundation in Natural and Built Environment – Average C+, equivalent to 60%
  • Taylor’s Diploma in Quantity Surveying – Overall 60% or B grade, equivalent to overall Merit achievement
  • Other Qualifications – Students with other qualifications will be considered on a case-by-case basis

Duration: 3 1/2 years

Further Studies

Upon successful completion of the Bachelor of Quantity Surveying (Hons), students can pursue their second professional degree, such as the Bachelor or Master of Property Management at a range of universities in Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom.
